Default Caprica

Didn't see a topic on the show so I'd thought I'd create one.

For those that don't know Caprica is a TV show on Syfy, that is a part of the Battlestar Galactica Universe. It takes place 58 years before the events of the Battlestar Galactica TV show and focuses on two families, the Graystone and Adama families. It takes place on Caprica, if you couldn't guess.

For those that have seen it, what are your thoughts?

I've watched all the episodes so far and I think it's great. I definitely need to watch all the Battlestar Galactica episodes now.

Caprica is surprisingly good. When i first heard what the plot was going to be i had my doubts. The series though has so far blown my expectations out of the water.

I watched the first few episodes and it didn't do nothing for me. It moves way more slower than I would like. I would of preferred that they didn't end Battlestar Galactica so soon, but that's me.

I actually feel inclined to agree there bud. I am not entirely jumping happy for joy with this series. Its now settled down into a slow tangent as well. Going by history tell's us Sci Fi's doing this sort of thing don't tent to last long. - Give it 2 or 3 series at most. The other thing my friends were explaining to me - when they watched it - was they think the spotted flaws in the story line which doesn't match up to the Battlestar Galactica story lines either.

I thought Caprica had a slow start but it did start to pick up momentum. I felt the season finale (or is it mid season finale?) was really abrubt though.

Also i'm not surprised that there would be continuity problems. Although some are kind of ridiculous (like adama's eye color as a child was different then his eye color as a adult). I did here of another issue but again as long as the series goes well i won't have issues with it.

I hope they don't write themselves into a corner again like with bsg.

yeah the one I heard about was an issue over the cylons, and the final 5 I think it were. My pal mentioned that in the BSG series they mentioned that the Cylons under went 100's of years of slavery under man kind - however caprica is set 50 years before the events of BSG.

Here's some info on the cylons that does show some continuity problems within Caprica. Perhaps if the show lasts long enough they will sort through the time issues. I mean it doesn't seem six years is long enough for Cylons to become so numerous and suddenly rebel with no reason. I guess we have to wait and see what happens.

Created long before the Articles of Colonization united the twelve sovereign governments, the Cylons were also used as soldiers to fight inter-colony wars.

Over the span of the re-imagined series, the term "Cylon" comes to refer to many types of synthetic life-forms, be they robotic or biological.

For reasons unknown, some 52 years prior to the decommissioning of the Colonial battlestar Galactica, the Cylons revolted against their masters, resulting in a costly and protracted twelve-year war between the machines and humans. Both Cylon and human took heavy tolls as Cylon basestars, Colonial battlestars, Raiders and Vipers clashed in many battles, with the Colonial offensive Operation Raptor Talon as the last battle.

Eventually, the two sides declared an armistice. The Cylons become exiled from the Colonies to establish their own homeworld.

That explanation seems more like a cop out - it's "wiki" too so anyone can add their own version of things to it. Doesn't mean its correct though. I heard the same thing that they were used to work the mines - but no mention was made of them being "different" Cylons to the ones created by the colonies.
