Default How to find the skins for a model

I tried to put a model of a starship into another mod, however I looked for its skins in the texture folder, but it did not have any, so I played it in my mod and I got no skin.....

However when I play the original mod, the ship has its skin - could anybody tell me how to locate the respective skin of a model by looking at it in the ALO viewer or by any other way

You need to simply located the necessary DDS file that goes with the model. In alot of case this is usually fairly easy to locate but some modellers do use more obscure names so it makes it more difficult. There isn't any other way unfortunately.

Best bet is if you open the model in the .ALO viewer, then look at the details of the model you should be able to go through and see the texture name that is assoicated with the model your trying to port over to the other mod.

Could you please elaborate how exactly to do that in the alo viewer?

Right, mke sure when you open up the ALO viewer you point it to look at the mod file where the model is that your trying to find the texture from. open up the model you want to view, now it should come up in all its glorious textures etc..
you then want to click on details from the File options menu. this will open up a list of all the details of the ship. It should display all the bones etc.., what your looking for it is where it says
MESH : shipname
Material:meshbumpcolurise (this is what most people use shader wise for models)

you should have a list and your looking for BaseTExture, click it and it will show you the name of the texture your after. I've attached a screenie so you can see what i mean.
